‘Joint opposition’ dream in Punjab on Sunday seemed to have shattered as Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) workers became harsh with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Mehmood-ur-Rasheed as the latter joined the protest against Metro train project.
PPP workers pushed Mehmood-ur-Rasheed out of the protest against metro train project and forced him to leave the protest. Only a few days ago, a joint opposition was formed in Punjab and promises were made to work jointly against the government. The joint opposition gave a call for protest at Jain Mandir in Lahore. The PPP staged the protest but when Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed arrived at the scene, the PPP workers got out of control and started raising slogans against PTI and its chairman Imran Khan.
Although Rasheed tried to explain that the oppositionhas joined hands in Punjab now and a grand alliance of the opposition parties has been formed in Punjab but the PPP workers were not ready to listen to him. Going a step forward after the slogans, PPP workers started pushing Mehmood and forced him to leave the protest.
