New hope for performing and visual arts

Locomania Productions opened an array of possibilities for the youth of Lahore by giving them a chance to express their creativity and originality at Casa Bianca on 29, 30 and 31 January 2016.

The three day event was a collaborated effort between Locomania Productions and Casa Bianca with the primary aim to provide the youth of Pakistan with a platform where they could openly present their skills, talents and ideas with regards to performing and visual arts without any barriers.

“Our generation is a part of an era where survival in a highly corporate world overrides every other passion. Amidst the resulting chaos created, performance and research on various art forms is losing hope and credibility amongst the youth. Our team has stepped in to show a silver lining to the youth through this event,” said Haider Mehdi, patron of Locomania Productions.

A generous number of youngsters, with the majority being unemployed at the moment are performing and visual art graduates from renowned institutes looking for a platform with resources to implement their creativity and originality.

“Locomania Productions provided us with an opportunity today where we could exhibit our creativity. Hopefully soon we will start implementing our ideas and creativity at their platform.

And of course, the 20% discount was a cherry on top by Casa Bianca,” said Ahmed Leo.

Casa Bianca which recently hosted the star cast of Manto (film) is a collective successful effort by four fresh graduates and has already established its identity in the city as a supporter of innovative and promising startups. They also plan to provide support to emerging startups in terms of hospitality and venue while in the long run they hope to launch a CSR Program.

“Yes, we are running a business here but at times one has to overlook monetary benefits to allow for something like this to happen,” said Ammar Anwar, co-creator, “We at Casa Bianca are always welcome to support any startup, especially art and performance relevant, as we want to portray a soft and peaceful image of Pakistan to the world, especially in today’s highly controversial times,” he added.

During the event, individuals came up and talked about the skills, ideas and the barriers they are facing.. They were in turn offered the option of working with Locomania Productions as permanent team member on upcoming projects such as their upcoming television production of sitcom series and theatrical performances.

“Those who have resources can put up a piece of art while those who don’t suppress their artistic talents forever. Therefore our aim here was to create a platform for youth where research and art could be combined to help them gain monetary benefits via good entertainment while we provide them with the basic necessities: the resources”, said Khurram Nawaz Sheik, a stage performer.
