Frenzel takes World Cup lead with Seefeld success

Eric Frenzel’s fine run of form continued as he topped the podium in the Nordic combined World Cup event in Seefeld, Austria.

German Frenzel arrived in Austria full of confidence having won three of his last four World Cup events the one mishap seeing him finish runner-up in France.

And the 10km normal hill Olympic champion from Sochi 2014 was at it again, coming home in 23.11.5 minutes for his fourth victory of the season.

That result sees him now lead the overall World Cup standings on 471 points and is now 17 ahead of compatriot Fabian Riessle who was third in Seefeld with a time of 24:39.2.

Sandwiched between the two Germans was Akito Watabe of Japan who came home in 23:36.4 and is third in the World Cup standings on 394 points.
