While the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) handed over wanted gang-war leader Uzair Jan Baloch into Rangers 90-day custody, former Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and home minister of Sindh, Zulfiqar Mirza says he still considered Uzair Baloch his brother.

Speaking to journalists on Saturday outside the ATC, the former PPP leader said Uzair Baloch’s arrest has only just been made public. He added that statements that Uzair will make would likely pave the way to bring back those who have fled the country.

He said the People’s Amn Committee (PAC) had existed prior to PPP’s coming into power in 2008. “We had received it as an inheritance,” he added.

Mirza praised Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar and described him as a patriotic Pakistani.

Khurhro questions Baloch arrest:

Separately Sindh Senior Minsiter Nisar Khuhro spoke to journalists in Karachi after inaugurating a girl’s college and raised questions regarding Uzair’s arrest.

Khurho said that an important question that needs to be asked is that in whose custody was Uzair Baloch until Saturday.

“It also remains to be seen if Uzair Baloch’s arrest is a reaction to statements against Chaudhry Nisar,” Khuhro added.

Talking to a private news channel, another PPP leader Maula Bux Chandio said Uzair Baloch’s arrest will not have any negative impact on his party.

“PPP has already disowned Uzair Baloch because of his criminal activities and he is not part of the party anymore,” he said.

  1. Keeping Politics out of the equation Uzair Baloch should be punished for the crimes he has comitted along with the co-conspirators and abettors. Media trial of the parties should be avoided.
