Qaumi Watan Party Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao said Sunday political leadership should come forward and play their role to remove atmosphere of fear, uncertainty and frustration being created by the extremists among the masses.
He said it during a public gathering at Sherpao house in District Charsadda.
QWP Provincial Chairman and Senior Provincial Minister Siknadar Hayat Khan Sherpao also spoke on the occasion.
Aftab Sherpao said non-implementation of National Action Plan was one of the main causes that led to Bacha Khan University attack, adding federal and provincial governments still have the time to devise strategy to avoid such untoward incidents in future.
“Arming and training teachers is not a solution to the issue rather both governments should improve and equip law enforcement agencies, intelligence sharing and implementation of 20-point NAP in letter and spirit,” he expressed.
Sherpao further said now it was the prime responsibility of the political leadership to come forward and address public gatherings so as to encourage students, parents and teachers that anti-education elements could not stop us from imparting the right of education to our coming generations.
He, on the occasion, asked his party’s lawmakers and officeholders to visit all districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and hold meetings with students, parents and the academia in order to boost their morale.
Talking about Pak-Afghan relations, he said the prevailing mistrust and misunderstanding between Kabul and Islamabad could come to an end if both the states devise joint strategy against terrorism and bolster people-to- people contacts.
“Our visit to Afghanistan bore fruits after which Afghanistan’s President Ashraf Ghani attended Heart of Asia Conference and quadrilateral meeting for bringing peace back to the region,” he said.
He, on the occasion, also demanded the federal government to fulfill its promises made with political leadership of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and start work on the western route of the corridor on priority basis.
