Chairman Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has said that the nation would not have witnessed Bacha Khan University’s incident if the government had taken timely steps to implement National Action Plan in letter and spirit.
QWP chief said this during a joining ceremony at Watan Kor here on Saturday. On the occasion, PK-94 independent candidate Shah Khizar Khan along with family joined the party.
Expressing solidarity with victims of Charsadda University, he said attack on Army Public School was a wake-up call for the incumbents to take up solid measures against terrorists and their facilitators and financiers.
He added that closing of educational institutions was not the solution to the issue. “It is the time to end this menace and for this purpose federal government should revise its policy against NAP and take bold steps to implement it in its true sense,” QWP chief asked.
Stressing on cordial relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan, Aftab Sherpao said terrorism was a common issue being faced by both the states.
“If there is persisting violence then there will be no trade and investment in the entire region and the incumbents on both sides of the border should improve bilateral relations and devise strategy to further strengthen people-to-people contacts so as to end mistrust and misperception between them,” he expressed.
Talking on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the Milli Rehbar said during all parties conference federal government assured us of ending grievances of the small provinces regarding construction of western route, establishing of economic zones and provisions of transmission lines. “Now the ball is in PML-N’s court whether it keeps its promises or not, he added.
“QWP will not compromise on the due rights of the Pakhtuns and will not hesitate to render any sacrifice,” Aftab Sherpao vowed.
On the occasion, QWP chief said that integration of FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province would bring positive impacts on the socio-economic life of the tribal people adding that by doing so the voice of the Pakhtuns would get stronger and no one would be able to snitch their due rights in the future.
