Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has on Saturday announced that he and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Pervez Khattak should be considered failures if change is not seen in the province in the next six months.
He added that the KP government was investing in people instead of concrete and steel.
Addressing the opening ceremony for Advances in Cancer and Haematology Conference at Khyber Medical University, Imran Khan said that 23 per cent of the cases in Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital Lahore come from KP.
He said that no country could progress without bringing a change in the fields of education and health. “No matter how many billions a country spends on Metro buses, progress is when it invests in education and health,” Imran said. He promised improvement in KP’s government hospitals within next six months.
Imran Khan added that the reason behind failure to bring change in government hospitals despite all the facilities is that the management system is inefficient. “The main objective behind forming a Board of Governors is to rid the government hospitals from bureaucracy,” he added.
Pervez Khattak and PTI leader Jahangir Tareen also attended the ceremony.
Speaking at an award ceremony at CM House Peshawar later on, Imran Khan said that a new hope has dawned upon the artists who had been affected by instability. He hoped that cultural activities would be restored in KP soon. Imran said that communication is getting better and better every passing day and social media’s role in this regard has been pivotal.
“PTI defeated all the political parties and made its government in KP only because of the power of social media,” he said.
Speaking on this occasion, CM Khattak said that Rs 500 million have been allocated for the welfare of the artists in the next year’s budget. He said that all the artists will be given Rs 30,000 monthly for eight months and art council halls will be constructed in all the districts.
Cheques were distributed among 500 artists belonging to various fields of arts on this occasion.
