BKU attack: Committee recommends removal of vice chancellor, security incharge

A committee formed to fix responsibility of the terrorist attack on the Bacha Khan University (BKU) has held the vice-chancellor and security in-charge of the varsity responsible for the tragedy.

A three-member committee  submitted a report to the government in which it stated that the vice-chancellor failed to put in place a proper security mechanism despite an advisory of worst security situation issued by the police.

Security in-charge of BKU Ashfaq Ahmad was also held responsible. “He completely mismanaged the security issue. His sole duty was security but he has had no training or expertise in this regard,” the report mentioned.

The committee in its recommendation asked the government to take action against the aforementioned persons and remove them from service.

On January 20, at least 21 people, including a professor, were killed when terrorists stormed the university situated in Charsadda district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
