Rainfall around the country, snowfall attracts tourists

The tourism in the hilly areas of the country is doing good business because of snowfall.

Chitral, Kalam, Malamjabba, Dir, Swat, Kaghan, Naran, Shangla, Murree, Gillyat, Neelum valley, Skardu, Bagh, Haveli, Astore, Ghizer on Friday received snowfall and become the centre of attraction for tourists at the weekend.

A large number of tourists visited Murree to enjoy the beautiful snowy hills. The resorts including Bhurban, New Murree, Kashmir Point, Mall Road and Ayubia Galyaat were packed with tourists.

A spokesperson of Met office said that widespread rain with snowfall over the hills is expected in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan divisions, FATA, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sahiwal divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

Parts of the country including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi and Lahore received heavy downpour on Friday.

Isolated light rain is also likely in D.G. Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur and Sukkur divisions. Snowfall predicted in Chitral, Kalam, Malamjabba, Dir, Swat, Kaghan, Naran, Shangla, Murree, Gillyat, Neelum valley, Skardu, Astore, Diamer, Ghizer and Ghanche on Saturday.

The spokesman said the rain spell will continue for the next 24 hours. More snowfall is also expected in Murree.He said that the rain will have salutary impact on the wheat crop.

He said that due to widespread rain in Malakand, Hazara divisions and Kashmir there is a risk of land sliding in the vulnerable areas during the period.
