PM bans recruitments in CDA, wants development projects expedited

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday imposed ban on recruitments in the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and directed the authority to expedite work on all ongoing development projects for their timely completion.

He issued these directives while chairing a meeting here to review the development projects launched by the CDA in the Federal Capital. Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Tariq Fazl Chaudhry, CDA Chairman Maroof Afzal and other senior government officers attended the meeting.

Dr Tariq Fazl Chaudhry briefed the PM about progress on the on-going projects.

Nawaz emphasized that the development projects should not in any way affect the city’s national park and the capital’s master plan should remain intact.

He instructed the CDA for finding innovative ways to remove encroachments and illegal occupation of the state land by employing technology like use of imagery from Suparco.

The meeting also discussed in detail the organizational affairs of CDA. The prime minister said that hardworking officers should be entrusted with responsibilities instead of incompetent and dishonest ones. He also directed to form a municipal police with special training and uniform in CDA for enforcement of its regulations.
