The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has launched the project of free education children of brick kiln workers in Punjab.
This programme will go a long way in improving the quality of life of such families. The children of brick kiln workers enrolled in PEF partner schools will be entitled of all the facilities along with free education announced by the Punjab government.
Managing Director Punjab Education Foundation Tariq Mahmood said this while talking to a six member school partners’ delegation led by Muzammil Iqbal Siddiqui at his office on Friday. Deputy MD-PEF Tariq Rafiq and programme directors were also present on the occasion.
The MD PEF said that besides schools of the Punjab government, workers welfare board and non formal literacy institutions, the children of brick kiln families will be admitted to PEF partner schools. Similarly, PEF will arrange free education of such children in their nearby private schools where their education will be supported through Education Voucher Scheme. He said that PEF partner schools have an important responsibility to make this beneficial scheme successful because this project will make such children a useful organ of the society. It will empower the hapless children to break the shackles of poverty through education to enjoy the benefits of life, he added. The PEF has not only promoted school education through school partners, but has also improved their overall standards through useful interventions. This way, the partnership of low cost private schools with the PEF is quite beneficial for them, he maintained.
Tariq Mahmood further said that PEF has an elaborate monitoring and evaluation system to keep an eye on the school partners in the province for ensuring that the partnership works in a smooth and healthy way. It is quite sanguine that our partners are efficiently serving to low income families at the grassroots through financial support and technical assistance provided by the foundation, he said. He said that meetings will be held regularly with the school partners for exchange of ideas and feedback to further the cause of education.
Earlier, Deputy MD Tariq Rafiq briefed the participants about various initiatives of the foundation. Programme directors also talked about the role of their public private based educational programmes in education-promotion.
Management assignments usually involve an elaborate account of how the project was conducted; and the data has to be organized into tables. Calculations are made to attain meaningful results which are interpreted in form of theory.
