Years required for completing parliament’s extension: CDA chief

Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Maroof Afzal said that many years were required to complete the extension project of Parliament lodges.

He told this while giving a briefing to Public Accounts Committee (PAC) here on Wednesday during its meeting held in Parliament House.

“Approximately a fine of Rs.270 million has been imposed to Construction Company on delay of extension project of parliament lodges and the company would complete the remaining work at old rates and rates were not being revised”, the chairman added.

The chairman further told that the company has been directed to complete the remaining work by December 2016 while only 30% work of the project has been completed and it could take years to complete the remaining work.

He informed the PAC that Peshawar Mor flyover at Kashmir Highway was the project of CDA which would be completed by 23 March 2016.

He added that funds have been provided by federal government for Chirah Dam to ensure the provision of hygienic and clean drinking water to the commuters of twin cities Islamabad and Rawalpindi and the Punjab government was purchasing land for the construction of said Dam.

“The construction and maintenance work of roads and streets in various sectors of Islamabad was speedy”, the chairman concluded.
