Former provincial minister Chaudhry Shaukat Dawood on Thursday quitted Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and rejoined Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

Shaukat Dawood met Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and praised his efforts. He said that the province was making progress under the leadership of Shahbaz Sharif.

He said that he has decided to rejoin PML-N due to PTI’s lack of seriousness and maturity.

It may be added that Shaukat Dawood was Punjab finance minister in the PML-N government back in 1999. After the then Nawaz Sharif government was overthrown by former president General (retd) Pervez Musharaf, he joined the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid. Unfortunately he lost consequent elections from his constituency PP-296 Rahim Yar Khan to another PML-N candidate Chaudhry Shafique.

On return of PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif from exile, he tried to rejoin the party, but was refused. He later joined the PTI in November 2011.

  1. These opportunists type of people keep changing their under-garments- like Manzoor Watoo. ECP should earmark such people and disqualify them.
