President Mamnoon Hussain has said that present government is working seriously to determine administrative status of Gilgit-Baltistan without changing its principled stand on Kashmir issue.

He was talking to a delegation of Gilgit-Baltistan in Islamabad on Thursday comprising Minister for Kashmir Affairs Ch. Barjees Tahir, Governor GB Mir Ghazanfar Ali and Prime Minister of GB Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman.

The president said that the government is looking into legal aspects and process would not only help crystallize identity of GB but also further strengthen its linkage with Pakistan.

Mamnoon Hussain asked provinces to launch projects like Orange Line to improve travelling facilities for people. He regretted that some people are trying to create misunderstanding about the project by linking it to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor as this is Punjab government’s project.

The president said the Economic Corridor would immensely benefit people of GB and therefore, they should extend a helping hand to the government in its successful implementation.

He said it has been decided to establish Baltistan University and funds for the purpose have been allocated. Similarly, a campus of Karakoram University would be set at Hunza. There would also be an increase in admission quota of GB students in Federal Government educational institutions.
