A unique exhibition of Japanese Calendars under the auspices of Embassy of Japan in collaboration with Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) started at RAC art gallery on Wednesday.
Junya Matsuura, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Japan, Islamabad flanked by Naheed Mnzoor, Resident Director RAC Waqar Ahmed and other dignitaries inaugurated the exhibition which would be put on display till 2 February.
A total 118 calendars reflected the present era and cultural attitudes of traditional Japan. Sports, natural scenes, architectural art, Japanese art of arranging flowers and other topics have been included in these calendars.
Addressing at the inaugural ceremony, Deputy Chief of Mission Junya Matsuura said that purpose of exhibition is to introduce various aspects of Japan to the people of Pakistan. The calendars put here showcase a vibrant depiction of the Japanese heritage and cultural identity by reflecting images from traditional and contemporary art, from sports, automobiles, nature, heritage and architecture to Japanese Kimono and Ikebana, he added. Junya Matsuura also thanked RAC.
Speaking on the occasion, Naheed Manzoor said that all these calendars not only reflect the skills of Japanese artists but also presenting the tale of economic, cultural and social development of Japan which are indeed a great source of learning for Pakistanis.
