Suspended official gets additional responsibilities

The Pakistan Housing Authority Foundation deputy director has been given additional responsibilities even after he was suspended over allegations of corruption.

The Pakistan Housing Authority and Ministry of Housing and Works managing director (MD) failed to take disciplinary action against the official.

According to sources, an inquiry report revealed that Deputy Director Fateh Ali Khan was allegedly involved in misuse of authority and was recruiting employees in the department illegally. The deputy director had not deposited money which had been collected from the allotments of flats into the official account.

The report further revealed that salaries for around 219 employees were drawn, whereas the total number of employees was only 196.

Despite these issues, Fateh has now been given the responsibilities of deputy director land. The suspended officer is putting pressure on PHA to end his suspension, while the PHA has forwarded the matter to the relevant ministry for further investigation.

The PHA Public Relations director confirmed the suspension of the official; however, no more details were shared.
