Public parks are usually built to entertain tired people to get relief from mental and physical fatigue. Unfortunately, Secretariat Chowrangi Park near Mazar-e-Quaid is now under political activities of Pakistan Peoples Party. The colorful painted flags of PPP on the middle portion of every tree can be seen. Billboards with political slogans are mounted on every corner of the park. It seems that the park is a personal property of PPP. The nearby residents and the people who visit the park are fed up with political ideology and propaganda in this public place situated in the centre of the city. I would urge the central government to take necessary action and use its influence to restore the natural beauty of the public park. We understand that beautiful and peaceful atmosphere of Karachi would only be maintained when political activities are organised under their secretariat building. Political motives and their promotion in the city’s intersection are not acceptable or eye catching. PPP should understand and distinguish between Hyde Park in London and the Secretariat Chowrangi Park in Karachi.
