As many as 100 suspects, including five gangsters and political workers, were apprehended in a door-to-door search operation conducted in parts of Karachi in the wee hours of Tuesday.
The operation was carried out by around 250 officials of police and Rangers in Landhi and Korangi areas. Four women were also among the arrested suspects.
Two criminals were wounded in a clash with the police near Karbala Ground in Landhi. Arms and ammunition and a snatched motorcycle were recovered from their possession. A worker of a political party was arrested in Baldia area.
Separately, the paramilitary Rangers arrested a gangster affiliated with Aziz Baloch group from Lyari’s Nawalain area. The accused was wanted in numerous cases of killing of police officials, attempted murders and extortion.
A local leader of a political party was also taken into custody from Golden Town near Al-Falah Society in Malir. The police also apprehended two suspects from Pirabad area and recovered weapons and drugs from them.
Police arrest four robbers: Police arrested four robbers following brief encounters here on Tuesday.
A team of Korangi police claimed to have arrested two alleged robbers identified as Sani, 25, and Imran, 24, following a brief shootout in Korangi area near Nadra Office. They said the robbers were wounded when the police repulsed the attack. Later, the two robbers were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for treatment.
Separately, a police team arrested two robbers from Landhi area. The robbers were wounded after their attack was retaliated. They were identified as Salman, 22, and Abdul Aziz, 21. They were ferried to JPMC for treatment.
