Pakistan T20 squad skipper Shahid Afridi on Tuesday said he will be taking 150 students from Peshawar’s Army Public School (APS) to Dubai for the inauguration ceremony of Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Interacting with a group of reporters during his franchise Peshawar Zalmi’s talent hunt programme at the army-run school, Afridi said that “the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) were full of talented players but they lacked opportunities”.

Afridi was of the view that the lack of extracurricular activities at the school and college level was alarming and this problem needed to be solved as soon as possible.

PSL, Pakistan’s franchise-based T20 league, starts next month from February 4 and will go on till February 23. The league features five teams: Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi.

He further said that Peshawar Zalmi coaches were working hard to make sure each player delivered to his level best during the league.

To a question about Pakistan T20 team against New Zealand, Afridi said he always tried to boost up the courage of players and cooperated with them in all fields. He however sounded critical of Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal’s recent performances and said that every individual should contribute for the team’s success.
