Balochistan to raise a special force to protect schools, KP to issue weapons licences to teachers
After the deadly attack on Bacha Khan University and with terrorists threatening further attacks, Balochistan government on Sunday announced the formation of a special force to protect educational institutes while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) administration, which had already launched its ‘Teacher with a gun’ policy, has decided to issue free weapons’ licences to teachers.
Balochistan government has decided to establish a special force to be deployed at university campuses across the province in the aftermath of the brutal attack on the Bacha Khan University.
At least 60 security personnel of the new force will be deployed in each university, while the force would answer to vice chancellors.
The force will be well equipped and armed to protect students and staff.
On the other hand, the KP government has decided to issue free weapons’ licences for government educational institutes’ employees.
The provincial home ministry confirmed that free licences would be issued after an official shows a letter from the relevant authority.
These policies have been launched in the aftermath of a terrorist attack at the Bacha Khan University in Charsadda, which claimed more than 20 lives, when unidentified gunmen opened fire on students and faculty members.
