The upgradation of drug testing laboratory Lahore has begun to make it the state-of-the-art laboratory.

The NESPAK and the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) have started the upgradation work to make structural changes in the building design and its renovation.

This was said by Advisor to Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Raffique. Salman said that DG Forensic Laboratory Lahore Dr Tahir Ashraf has been appointed as the project director having vast experience of serving abroad behind him, said a press release issued on Sunday.

Moreover, the services of technical experts of UK Laboratory services institution have also been obtained. He further said that the technical staffs of DTL Lahore are being trained in Forensic Laboratory Lahore, while two senior scientists of DTL have been selected for training in UK.

Salman said that the services of clerical and non-technical staff of DTL have been given temporarily at the disposal of Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department so that they should not sit idle during the renovation of DTL.

The advisor told that the medicines samples which were analysed at DTL Lahore, would be sent to DTLs of Faisalabad and Multan during that period and as soon as the task of upgradation of DTL Lahore would be completed, the functioning of drug testing would again start at Lahore.
