Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has directed to initiate work on and improve design of the proposed dual carriageway link road from Chamkani to Badaber in order to make it more effective for overcoming traffic congestion in Peshawar.
He issued these directives while being briefed on the proposed dual carriage way from GT Road at Chamkani to Badaber here on Sunday. Secretary C&W, MD PHA, Additional Secretary P&D, consultant of the project and others attended the briefing.
The CM was informed that proposed road project, costing Rs. 4 billion would provide better connectivity to the densely populated areas of the district Peshawar including Hazar Khwani, Sorezai Bala, Pandu Payan and Badaber. The road would be designed through corridor linking the national road grid connecting N-5,N-1, N-55 and Peshawar Ring Road. The facility would be provided with flyover to facilitate the local people. The CM was informed that the proposed link road would cater for traffic problems in future, reduce travel timing moving from N-5 to N-55 and ring road to Peshawar and would be suitable for free flow of heavy traffic also .
He was further informed that the project would be split into two phases. The first phase will consist of Ring road link to Badaber while Phase 2 would connect the bypass near Chamkani.
