Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over a high-level meeting on Sunday which reviewed overall law and order situation in the province and security measures for educational institutions.
The chief minister while addressing the meeting said that no compromise will be made on security of private and public sector educational institutions. He said departments and institutions concerned should play an active role for the implementation of the security plan devised for this purpose.
Sharif while directing to further improve security of private and government sector educational institutions, said all-out measures should be taken for the protection of life and property of citizens and effective monitoring of security arrangements evolved for private and public sector schools, colleges and universities should be continued. He directed that provincial ministers and secretaries should continue to monitor implementation of the security plan for educational institutions. Similarly, he said, divisional commissioners, RPOs, CPOs, DCOs and DPOs should regularly review security arrangements of private and government educational institutions. He said that strict implementation of the security plan should be ensured and the departments and institutions concerned should perform their duties with effective coordination while third party audit of security measures should be conducted on regular basis as no laxity or negligence is tolerable in the present situation.
Kidney and Liver Transplant project: Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over a high-level meeting which reviewed progress on Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Project. Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said that the project of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute is of vital importance in the provision of modern treatment facilities to the patients suffering from kidney and liver diseases. He said that there is a need for coordination between institutions concerned for speedy implementation of the project. He said that this project will be state-of-the-art like other projects of Punjab government and will be a milestone in the provision of modern treatment facilities in health sector. The chief minister reprimanded authorities concerned over delay in some matters pertaining to the project and said that there is no cause for delay in the project and it should be furthered in a professional manner and department concerned should work with effective mutual coordination. He said that he will personally head steering committee in future and its meetings will be held regularly on weekly basis. He said that delay in this important project of public interest is not tolerable. He directed that all-out steps should be taken for completing the project in the stipulated period.
Ahsan Iqbal meets Sharif: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal met Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday. Matters of mutual interest, situation in the country and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) were discussed in the meeting. The chief minister said that CPEC is a game changer for progress and prosperity of the country and not only Pakistan but the entire region will benefit from this project. He said that work is being carried out speedily on CPEC projects in Punjab.
Meanwhile, a brilliant student, Zulqarnain, belonging to Haider Khel area of Tehsil Mir Ali of North Waziristan met Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday.
The chief minister on this occasion announced that Punjab government will bear all educational expenditures of Zulqarnain on MBBS and all out help will be extended to him. The chief m,inister said that he is happy that Zulqarnain who belongs to North Waziristan has achieved success due to his hard work and prayers of his parents and is doing MBBS at Aga Khan Medical University. The Chief Minister also gave a cheque to Zulqarnain for meeting his educational expenditure.
