Ameer Jamat-e-Islami Sirjaul Haq has said that billions of rupees allocated in budget for maintaining law and order situation is being spent on security of VIPs while life and property of common man is at stake.

Addressing the JI workshop at Mansoora on Sunday, he said that corruption and bad governance had ruined all state institutions but the rulers did not think themselves accountable to anyone.

He said that the country had been made a slave of the world colonialism and foreign agencies were operating freely. “CIA operative like Raymond Davis, the killer of three innocent citizens, was let go and the law enforcement agencies remained helpless. The rulers were selling out vital national interests on US dictation keeping the masses in the dark,” he said.

The JI chief said POL prices in the international market had come down to one third but the masses were being denied its benefit. Price of petrol and diesel must be reduced by Rs 15 per liter, he demanded.

He said that the persons, whose elders had offered sacrifices for the creation of this Muslim homeland, were living in abject poverty while the elite were enjoying all kinds of luxuries.

Haq said that before the time came when corruption had eaten the entire social structure, it was essential to carry out accountability of the corrupt mafia.  He said the civil and military rulers in the past had held out rosy promises to the masses but the fate of the general public had not improved.

He said the only way out of the situation was to recover the trillions of the public wealth lying in foreign banks and utilise the huge amount on public welfare.
