Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Ahsan Iqbal said on Saturday that the reservations and objections related to the issue of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) against Punjab were baseless and illogical. He was addressing a seminar in Lahore.
According to details, Ahsan Iqbal said that energy projects had been given emphasis in the CPEC to meet the growing energy requirements of the country. He said out of 46 billion dollars, 35 billion dollars investment would be made in the power sector. He said some people had reservations on CPEC but Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has cleared the misperceptions.
Ahsan said Sindh was the major recipient of investment in power sector followed by Balochistan and Punjab, so this idea that Punjab was getting a bigger share of profits and perks, is wrong. Ahsan Iqbal said that the development of road infrastructure will lead to economic activity in all areas of the country, especially the backward ones.
