Govt pursuing renewable energy projects: minister

Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali told the Senate on Friday that the government was pursuing renewable energy projects to meet the growing requirements of power.

Replying to the questions in Senate, he said the power plants were being shifted to Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) and the coal to produce the electricity.

He said these were all environment-friendly projects and 3600 MW of electricity would be produced through the RLNG as per the policy. Responding to a call attention notice, Minister of State for Interior Balighur Rehman clarified that the main target of recent terror attack in Quetta was not the polio workers but the law enforcement agencies.

He said stringent security measures were being taken for the successful implementation of polio immunization campaign. He said the religious seminaries were being registered under the National Action Plan to bring them into the mainstream. Later, the house was prorogued.
