Cold wave, foggy weather persist in parts of country

Thick fog continued engulfing Islamabad, Rawalpindi and various parts of Punjab till Saturday noon disrupting flight operation.

The severe wave of cold coupled with the fog and chilly winds made the conditions frigid. Citizens remained holed up in their homes to avoid the temperature.

The flight operations at Benazir Bhutto International Airport were also affected as at least 35 flights faced delay while eight others were cancelled. Flight Inquiry department advised the passengers to get complete information before coming to the airport. Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) officials said that the weather would be cold and dry in next five days while thick fog would blanket parts of Punjab, Peshawar and upper Sindh.

Minimum temperature touched 2 degree centigrade in Islamabad. Skardu experienced the highest minimum temperature with -13 degree centigrade and Diamar with -7 degree centigrade.
