The Islamic State (IS) has been using ‘hot’ young men to lure western women into joining the militant group, according to CNN.
The CNN segment discusses a blog written by a Malaysian woman called Sham and claims a “match.com” style approach is being used by IS to recruit western women.
The blog titled ‘Bird of Jannah’ is based on Sham’s experiences in Raqqa, Syria when she went to join the the extremist movement in 2014. Sham, who claims shes is a doctor in Malaysia, writes about life under the ‘caliphate’ and what it is like taking part in an arranged marriage.
Analysts suggest that the blog is a recruitment tool for the Islamic State, targeting mostly women in a match.com manner.
“After a few minutes, I flip my niqab,” CNN quotes the blog as saying. “He looked at me. Our eyes catch each others. I had palpitation that is faster than the speed of light.”
The real attraction, according to CNN, is the promise of a ‘jihottie’ husband like Sham’s.
‘Jihotties’ refers to men who are displaying the masculinity, what heroes they are and how amazing they are as good Muslim men who are brave and willing to fight.
It has been estimated that more than 500 women have left their lives in the West to join Da’ish, the Arabic acronym for IS. According to CNN its part of an online recruitment explosion which is both eye-catching and inviting.
