Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali told the National Assembly on Thursday that construction work on Dasu Dam project would be executed in the next few months.
He told the House during question hour that as per PC-I, the project’s cost is Rs 486.093 billion. He said that the World Bank had approved the financing of stage-I of Dasu Hydropower project.
He informed the House that work on Munda Dam would also be started by the end of this year. He said that the dam was in study phase and its detailed engineering design, preparation of PC-I and tender documents were in progress.
Minister for Industries and Production Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi told the House that it was a fact that Pakistan Steel Mills had stopped functioning due to non-supply of gas for more than seven months.
He said that the Pakistan Steel Mills was also on the privatisation list of the government. He said the federal government had also offered the Sindh government to buy this entity.
Minister of State for National Health Services Saira Afzal Tarar told the House that there are about 8 million people suffering from Hepatitis C in the country.
She said that about eighty thousand people die each year due to liver disease. She said that the government was negotiating with the Shifa International Hospital on a package for liver transplant under Prime Minister’s National Health Programme.
She said that a liver transplant facility would be established in the country in cooperation with Bahrain. Answering a question, Minister of State for Interior Muhammad Balighur Rehman on behalf of Minister for Religious Affairs informed the House that the government was considering to reduce the Hajj package this year.
