Capital’s various universities have tightened security at their campuses to avoid any untoward incident in the aftermath of a deadly attack on Bacha Khan University in Charsadda.
Although there were no threats for educational institutions in the capital, however universities have made fool-proof security arrangements in wake of the heinous incident of Charsadda.
An official of the Quaid-e-Azam University said that the institution has increased its security and started vigilance on all routes of the university.
He said the university has its own trained security guards, who were performing their duties actively to protect the students.
Sources from the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) said that the institution has made full security arrangements.
Sources said that the university has inducted a number of security personnel including retired army and police officials, adding that these security guards were performing their duties effectively day and night.
The spokesman of the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) informed that the security of the university was very strict especially during the study hours.
Officials of the capital’s other universities said that they have taken necessary steps for the security of the students and added the police of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) was also fully supporting in this regard.
When contacted an official of the police said that the training of guards at educational institutions was also being ensured, adding that the law enforcement agencies were in contact with all schools, colleges and universities regarding their security arrangements.
Police had launched search operations in surrounding areas of different educational institutions to have check on suspects, he said.
STUDENTS PROTEST CHARSADDA ATTACK:
Meanwhile, students of various federal educational institutions Thursday staged demonstration against terrorists attack at Bacha Khan University Charsadda.
They took out a rally from Federal Urdu University Islamabad Campus to zero point and demanded the government to expedite operation against the terrorists.
The students paid tributes to the martyrs who lost their loved ones in the Charsadda attack.
Addressing the rally, student representatives said that terrorism has no religion and humanity. They are also no good nor bad Taliban just killers and enemies of humanity, adding that they spoil the world peace and do not deserve any sympathy and dialogue.
The participants were carrying cards, inscribed with slogans against terrorism and raised slogans against terrorism and their facilitators.
Similar rallies and candle vigils were held in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Sargodha, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot and other cities.
Workers from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Muslim League (PML), Awami Workers Party (AWP), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) also joined the rallying crowds.
