After weeks of mounting speculation, it appears that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are definitely back on, according to US reports.

The singer first sparked rumours she was back with her former fiancé when she joined him in his native Australia for the New Year.

Since then, the Wrecking Ball singer has been pictured wearing what appears to be the same engagement ring Liam gave her before they split in 2013.

Finally confirming the rumours, a source told People magazine: “Miley is where she has wanted to be for the past two years. Back with Liam and very happy.”

The insider revealed that they always wanted to be together but needed that time apart.

“Miley never wanted to split. Things just got so bad that they really needed the break.”

They continued: “Now reunited, Miley seems ecstatic. She loves her life and is excited about the future. She always loved her engagement ring and was very proud of it.”

The source said there’s no date set for a wedding “but they are back together and very happy.”

Miley and Liam ended their relationship and called off their engagement back in 2013.

But it was recently reported that the singer had been hoping she and Hunger Games star could rekindle their romance for some time now.

After they split Miley’s love life remained under the spotlight with a number of high-profile flings.

The songstress dated Patrick Schwarzenegger until April 2014 and was linked with Victoria’s Secret model Stella Maxwell for a short time afterwards.

However, during those romances the Wrecking Ball star never ruled out getting back with Liam and once revealed that the break-up occurred so she could grow as an individual.

“I was so scared of ever being alone, and I think, conquering that fear, this year, was actually bigger than any other transition that I had, this entire year,” she told Barbara Walters in 2013.

“I don’t ever want to have to need someone again, where you feel like, without them, you can’t be yourself.”

While back in October Liam admitted he would always have feelings for his ex.

“I mean, look — we were together five years, so I don’t think those feelings will ever change. And that’s good because that proves to me that it was real. It wasn’t just a fling.

“It really was an important part of my life and always will be,” he told Men’s Health magazine.
