A Lahore High Court division bench on Tuesday sought reply from National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on a petition against the arrest of Hammad Arshad, involved in Rs 17 billion scam at the DHA Lahore, by January 26.
The bench comprising Justice Muhammad Tariq Abbasi and Justice Mirza Viqas Rauf heard the petition filed by Hammad Arshad against his arrest and physical remand.
During the hearing, the applicant’s counsel assailing his client’s arrest and physical remand submitted that the LHC had restrained NAB from taking any coercive measures against the accused. But, despite the clear orders of the court, the NAB had arrested and accused his client and had also received a physical remand against him, he said.
He contended that the arrest and subsequent physical remand was a violation of the court orders.
At this, the court issuing notices to the NAB sought a reply by January 26.
Earlier, the NAB arrested Hammad Arshad on charges of corruption and cheating public. The accused collected money from the general public to the tune of Rs 15.47 billion. Later, he transferred the money to his personal accounts and used it for his personal gains and invested in other business ventures.
