The flight operation of Pakistan International Airlines was cancelled owing to poor visibility caused by a thick blanket of fog which engulfed Punjab late Tuesday night.
The flight operation was suspended at the Multan airport where maximum visibility dropped to just 20 metres as the mercury dipped further. A PIA flight coming from Karachi was sent back, while another flight of a private airline from Dubai was also told to turn back due to extreme weather conditions.
The schedule of trains has also been badly impacted due to the foggy weather. Highway authorities have issued a warning to motorists to remain extra vigilant while driving. A national highway has been closed for traffic from Rasulabad to Buburlu in Khairpur due to the dense fog.
