The most influential officials of Oil and Gas Development Corporation Limited (OGDCL) have finalised a secret deal with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to rescue their eight colleagues allegedly involved in the corruption worth Rs 900 million.
Credible sources said that the FIA had included the deceased general manager of OGDCL Zafar Rajpoot in the initial list of accused persons involved in the scam. The initial estimate of Sinjhoro plant project was prepared by deceased Zafar Rajpoot, but unfortunately he had passed away four months before.
“Rooh Ullah, the new GM, had approved the project without examining the files, and contractor of this project Salman Mahmood had bribed millions of rupees to concerned OGDCL officials.
“That is why this project had been approved without any delay and 10 officials of OGDCL were responsible of loss of Rs 900 million to national exchequer,” the sources added.
The sources further said that the FIA after getting initial information had taken GM Rooh Ullah, contractor Salman Mahmood, chief procurement Riaz Khan, accountant Khalid Khan and other contractors Fazal Abbasi and Ashraf Pathan into its custody while two officials had secured interim bails from the local courts.
The sources of OGDCL revealed that powerful and influential mafia had given complete facilities and protocol to their colleagues in the custody of investigation agency and made secret deal with the officials of FIA for the release of these corrupt officials.
The officials of FIA in return assured of their release after few hearings of the case.
Online, when contacted Investigation Officer of FIA Inspector Chaudhry Tauqeer, he said that the FIA had un-deniable evidences against all detained officials who caused a loss of Rs 900 million to the national exchequer, adding that challan had been completed against them and bails of two fled officials would be cancelled.
The investigation officer further said that as far bail matter of the accused was concerned, it was discretionary power of the judge but they would produce all the evidences before the court. “We cannot do anything if the court grants bails to accused persons.”
It is worth-mentioning here that the hearing of the said case was conducted by Special Judge FIA Chaudhry Nazir but the investigation officers of the agency did not appear before the court. The hearing of the case has been adjourned by January 24.
