The Sindh High Court on Monday extended the bail of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Waseem Akhtar till February 1 in two cases lodged against him for his remarks against the army and other state institutions.

Akhtar had been accused of giving comments related to national institutes and intelligence agencies on a private channel. Subsequently, cases were lodged against him with the Sohrab Goth and Super Highway police stations.

Meanwhile, talking to media on the court premises, Akhtar said that the movement for new provinces was gaining momentum. The MQM had, he said, moved a resolution in the National Assembly in this respect. He also said that the Sindh government did not seem serious in resolving the issues facing the people of the province.
