Society Watch President Khalid Mehmood on Sunday said those who were conspiring against the Rangers’ powers were enemies of Pakistan as the paramilitary force had restored the confidence of the people of Karachi and the city’s business community.
“Rangers have not only enforced the writ of the government but also reduced crimes which has infused confidence among the businessmen, who are the main victims of decades of lawlessness,” he said in a statement.
Khalid Mehmood said that the country’s international credit worthiness could not improve unless situation in Karachi was made better which was only possible in the presence of Rangers.
Life in Karachi had returned to normalcy with economic activities gaining momentum and soon the city would become a darling of investors, he added.
The mandate of the paramilitary force, a non-political institution, must be increased till 2018 to ensure peace and stability, and foil terror attacks in the mega city, which he said, was also a must for the success of China Pakistan Economic Corridor.
“Lt Gen Bilal Akbar and his team should get additional powers due to their unprecedented success in operations against criminals as they have restored peace,” he said, adding that some elements were busy in conspiring against Rangers in a bid to thrive on lawlessness again.
He said that the crackdown should continue until terrorism and ‘Bhatta’ (extortionist) mafia was completely eradicated. “Terrorists, their facilitators and financiers are the targets of the Karachi operation and Rangers should stay until they have achieved all of these targets.”
Agree with Mr Khalid Mahmood although he said it without naming any individual or Political party.
