ETPB retrieves illegally occupied land worth Rs 8 billion

Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) has retrieved Rs 8 billion worth of illegally occupied land from its occupants during the last 15 months through legal action, official sources said on Sunday.

The sources said that the ETPB would continue to retrieve the Trust’s illegally occupied land in different parts of the country. The Trust has also retrieved 2,500 acres of grabbed land from Sindh, while notices have also been issued to the illegal occupants of Punjab and Sindh.

They said that 4,000 acres of land had been grabbed in Sindh. The case would soon be referred to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for legal action, they said.

The sources revealed that ETPB owns 112 acres of land, over 14,500 buildings in addition to over 40,000 small units. It has five colleges, schools, hospitals and Diyal Singh library under its control. The Trust expects to receive a sum of Rs 1 billion by June 30, through auctioning of plots.
