The by-election in the NA-218 Matiari constituency will be held today (Monday). There are over 160,496 registered male voters in the constituency, and 142,248 female voters. Around 263 polling stations have been established in the constituency, of which 60 polling stations have been declared highly sensitive, and one hundred polling stations are sensitive. Six candidates are contesting for the seat. Hyderabad Regional Election Commissioner Ijaz Anwar Chauhan told Radio Pakistan Hyderabad Correspondent Noor Hussain Chand that all arrangements have been made to ensure free, fair, and transparent polls. He said around 2,400 security personnel have been deployed to ensure that the elections are free and fair. The NA-218 seat-fell vacant due to the demise of PPP parliamentarian Makhdoom Amin Fahim.
