Around 600,000 mulberry trees to be replaced in Islamabad

The Ministry of Capital Administration and Development (CADD) has issued directives to Capital Development Authority (CDA) to replace 600,000 mulberry trees with eco-friendly plants in the federal capital, said an official.

Under the new initiative, the CDA will plant 600,000 alternative plants in Islamabad during 2016. In the first phase, 300,000 mulberry trees will be planted in green belts during spring followed by the same number of trees in autumn. According to the official, the move aims to curb the menace of pollen allergy and to mitigate the environmental impact, these trees cause.

A large number of Islamabad residents have to face pollen allergy during spring season.
