It is said that the judicial system in Pakistan is very complicated and tedious. Due to this fear the general public does not bring many matters in judicial hearing, as a result of which a large number of people remain deprived from their right and justice. I have had personal experience of getting justice from the institution of Federal Ombudsman, and that too, in just fifteen days. A big private company of Karachi providing public service issued to me a bill of more than a hundred thousand rupees. I went to their contact centre several times but they not only compelled me to pay the bill but also made such a monthly installment schedule which I could never follow given my limited monthly income.
Left with no other option, I contacted the Federal Ombudsman. In just a single hearing, senior advisor Yasmin Saud convinced the representative of the company that the additional bill has been issued from their side, and that its payment is not possible even through coercion by a consumer with limited monthly income living in an eighty yards quarter, and hence it will result in non-payment by the consumer. Therefore, she asked him to make such a payment schedule which the consumer could easily follow. The representative immediately put his stamp on the additional bill and made an easy payment schedule.
Yasmin Saud also convinced him that his company should not issue to me additional bill in future. I am very happy by the just decision of Mr Salman Farooqi’s institution of Federal Ombudsman, and I humbly appeal to the general public that if they face injustice from any department, they should not hesitate in resorting to the Federal Ombudsman. They will get justice there – immediate and absolutely free justice.
