Executions of pro-Pakistan leaders in Bangladesh condemnable: Baloch

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Secretary General Liaqat Baloch while welcoming Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Army Chief General Raheel Sharif’s visit to Saudi Arabia and Iran has urged the premier to also visit Dhaka and lodge protest over the execution of pro- Pakistan leaders for so-called war crimes.

He was addressing a massive protest demonstration organised by the JI women wing over the executions of senior JI leaders in Bangladesh. A large number of women and children joined the rally held here on Sunday.

Baloch said that the trials of the JI and other leaders for so-called war crimes were a clear violation of the tri-partite agreement between Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. He said that if the Pakistan government did not take up the issue with the Dhaka regime and India was given a free hand in this regard, time could come when similar trials would start against the Pakistan army, generals and civil bureaucracy.

The JI central leader also urged the Muslim world and the UN secretary general to take notice of the gross human rights violations in Bangladesh where even women and girls students were being jailed and tortured.

Baloch noted that Ameer of the JI in Bangladesh Maulana Mutiur Rahman Nizmai was a respected leader of the Islamic movement and had been elected to the BD parliament several times and had also been a member of the BD cabinet. However, the Hasina Wajid government was victimising him only to appease New Delhi.
