Allama Iqbal Museum to be renovated

The Punjab Archaeology Department has started upgradation and preservation work on Allama Iqbal Museum, Javed Manzil Lahore, with an aim to protect the residence of great Muslim philosopher and poet as the heritage of the nation.

The Punjab government has provided an amount of Rs 28 million for the conservation and upgradation work.

Under the project, the Punjab Archaeology Department will carry out repair works and upgradation of various portions of the building including raising the boundary walls.

Allama Iqbal Museum contains photographs, certificates, educational degrees, awards, medals and hand written drafts of Iqbal’s works. The museum has been closed for the general public and will be opened after completion of the renovation.

The great philosopher had constructed the building in 1935 and spent last days of his life in it. The government declared it as museum in 1961 to preserve the national hero’s belongings for the future generations.
