54 cases of swine flu confirmed in Punjab

Swine flu is spreading fast in the Punjab as another patient died of the disease on Sunday, taking the death toll to 13.

A woman Yasmeen suffering from H1N1 virus commonly known as swine flu died in Lahore on Sunday and the number of patients affected by the disease reached 14. Five deaths have been reported in Rawalpindi, four in Multan and one each in Lahore, Chakwal, Gujranwala and Sahiwal.

Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that every effort is being made to contain the flu.

Meanwhile, five cases have also been confirmed in Karachi. Swine flu, also known as H1N1 in medical terms, is a disease that spreads through contact with a sufferer, while shaking hands, aerially or using a utensil which had earlier been in contact with a patient of the disease.
