Shuja Khanzada case: Court reprimands IO for not filing challan

 

Local court on Saturday reprimanded the investigation officer probing the Shuja Khanzada case for not filing challan.

The court ordered the officer to make sure submission of the challan in the next hearing.

Civil judge Shahid Hameed heard the case. The court resented the alleged slackness on investigative officer’s part.

However, the hearing was adjourned until January 19.

The civil judge had written a letter to the government urging appointment of a prosecutor. The special court established three months ago is hearing its first case.

In the previous hearing, judicial remand of the suspect in the case, Qasim Muawia was extended. Muhammad Khan, the investigative officer had stated that challan is ready and would be filed as soon as the prosecutor is informed.

The challan declares an absconder named Qari Sohail the mastermind of the attack while Muawia is stated to have played a facilitator.

On August 16, Khanzada among 19 were martyred in terror attack at his political office in Shadi Khan near Attock.
