Pakistan Muslim League (N) has won 18 reserved seats out of total 27 in Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation on Saturday. Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) trailed behind by winning nine seats.
The newly elected 50 chairmen elected 17 women, three peasants, three youth members, three minority members and one technocrat in the second phase of Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation LG elections.
According to unofficial results, PML-N won 11 seats and PTI six seats reserved for women. Out of three reserved seats for labour, PML-N won two and PTI one.
PML-N gained two seats reserved for youth members leaving one for PTI. Likewise out of three seats reserved for minority members, PML-N won two and PTI one.
PML-N’s Shiekh Ansar, who is expected to be mayor of Islamabad, won only seat of technocrat.
62 candidates contested polls for 27 reserved seats.
Islamabad Model College for Boys F-8/4 was given status of polling station by Election Commission Pakistan (ECP).
The polling started at 9 am and continued till 5 pm.
