The salary of Dengue Sanitary Patrol Workers (DSPWs) has not been paid for the last six months.
The Rawalpindi district government inducted 680 DSPWs on 8 August 2015 to take their help to carry out anti-dengue campaign, however, they have not been paid a single salary since then.
“Now traders refuse to provide us commodities on credit and some private schools have expelled our children from schools due to non-payment of fees,” said a group of DSPWs.
They demanded that the provincial government issued directives to the district authorities to make payment of their outstanding salaries forthwith.
When contacted, DCO Rawalpindi Sajid Zafar Dall said that a summary has been sent to the Punjab finance department for releasing funds to make payments. “As soon as the funds are released, the salaries will be paid,” he said.
