4 Afghan ‘spies’ sent on 14-days judicial remand, many terrorists arrested in Karachi raids

Judicial Magistrate Karachi Central on Saturday sent the four spies of Afghan intelligence agencies arrested from Rizvia Colony on Friday, to jail on 14 days judicial remand while many suspected terrorists and outlaws were held from several areas.

The Afghan ‘spies’, Aminullah, Muhammad Aziz, Abdul Ghaffar and Hikmatullah, were reportedly held from Clifton, Gulistan-i-Jauhar and Pahlwan Goth, were produced by police in the court, which sent them on judicial remand. The court ordered the investigation officer to submit complete challan on next date of hearing.

The suspects belong to the Ghazni province of Afghanistan and had entered Pakistan three months ago. They were working at ‘Tandoor’ (mud built oven used for cooking breads) shops in different areas.

According to police, none of the arrested Afghans can speak Urdu language, while one of them is fluent in speaking English. The police have booked under Foreigners Act for staying in Pakistan without valid documents.

Meanwhile, several suspected terrorists and outlaws were arrested by law enforcement agencies during raids across the mega city.

The paramilitary force conducted raids in Gulshan-e-Haider and Pathan Colony and nabbed four suspects affiliated with banned outfits with weapons.

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel after a brief exchange of fire apprehended three suspects from Nishtar Road area. During initial investigation, the accused identified as Aqib alias Murghi Wala, Qasim alias Bajji and Izhar alias Kala have reportedly confessed killing a policeman in Jamshed Quarters area, besides extorting money from traders.

The Rangers, on a tip-off, conducted a search operation in Kunwari Colony and arrested four alleged terrorists. During the operation, the paramilitary force personnel cordoned off the entire area and launched a door-to-door search. Weapons were also confiscated from their possession.

A suspected target killer, Nabeel alias Sherry, was arrested by police from Al-Falah Society area with hand grenades and sub-machine guns.
