Out of total 7,036 schools, 935 remain closed in Larkana division. Some 1,170 schools are situated in Larkana district, out of which 24 are closed. Kambar-Shahdadkot district has 1,631 schools where 258 are closed. There are 1,495 schools in Kashmore, out of which 313 remain closed.
Jacobabad has 1,440 schools and 70 of them are closed while 1,300 schools exist in Shikarpur district out of which 270 are closed. This was in a letter issued by Director School Education Primary, Larkana Region, Anwar Ali Khokhar, while addressing the district education officers, Primary Larkana Region. The officials have been asked to submit progress report regarding opening of closed schools.
Khokhar wrote in the letter: “The opening of closed schools is already on your priority matters and you are all busy in doing such exercise in desirable manner by rationalisation and posting of teachers through on-going recruitment round-III but the progress report of work done by TEOs on the subject matter is still awaited for which you have been requested time and again but to no outcome till date.”
He said in the letter: “You are also aware of the fact that such progress report is required to be submitted in the Sindh High Court, Circuit Court, Larkana, in a CP No: 68/2005, whereby it has been asked the districts to make all the closed schools functional without further loss of time.” Copies of this letter have also been sent to education secretary, commissioner and deputy commissioner (DC), Larkana, Registrar SHC Larkana and others. The DCs have been requested to ask assistant commissioners who simultaneously hold charge of taluka education officers (TEOs) to provide the requisite information to this directorate.
