An election tribunal Thursday de-seated PML-N MPA Rashida Yaqoob after nullifying her election from PP-78 constituency.
The tribunal ordered Election Commission of Pakistan to hold re-poll in the constituency.
The tribunal also ordered to recover all perks and privileges received by Rashida Yaqoob being MPA.
The tribunal comprising Muhammad Rasheed Qamar passed these orders while allowing three election petitions filed by Maulana Ahmad Ludhyanvi and others challenging the election of Rashida Yaqoob from PP-78. However, the tribunal dismissed another election petition filed by Saeeda Akhtar due to non-verification.
The tribunal had reserved its verdict after hearing arguments of all parties on Tuesday.
The petitioners’ through their election petitions alleged that the respondent MPA concealed details regarding her assets and bank default while filing nomination papers for elections.
They contended that the respondent did not fulfil conditions set in the constitution and pleaded the court to de-seat the MPA.
