Pak-India foreign secretary talks deferred

Talks between the foreign secretaries of Pakistan and India will not take place on January 15 (Friday) as earlier scheduled, a spokesman for the Foreign office said on Thursday.

“Pakistan is in contact with India for new dates for the proposed talks between Pakistan’s foreign secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry and his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in Islamabad,” he said.

The Foreign Office spokesman, however, said he did not have any knowledge of the arrest of Masood Azhar, the leader of the banned Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant group, which is accused of carrying out the terrorist attack on an Indian airforce base at Pathankot near the Pak-India border.
